Hewey Babies!

Here will be a collection of pictures of Aurum Remarquable's (Hewey's) first crop of foals.

For those who might think that Hewey is not genetically a 16.3hh horse, his first foal 'Splinter' arrived today (2nd October) to prove that Hewey really is a big guy with short legs!

Splinter is out of Stylish Odds, who is owned by Liz Irwin. He is a really big bay foal, about 58kg and with very solid bone and substantial joints. He has inherited his Dad's perfect white star and good looks.

Here are a couple of pics:

First 'Hewey Baby' for Aurum was Hardy who is out of Money Miss Spent, dam of one of last year's super event foals Aurum Brilliant Flood. Hardy was unlucky to suffer some broken ribs during birth so he's stuck in a box until they're healed. Fortunately he's a very sweet natured character and takes it in his stride, always keen for a chat with people. He'll be a good size, he was 63.5kg at birth!

Next in line was Honey out of Rosewood Duelluta, dam of the very flash Aurum Solarius from the 2007 season. Honey is most striking in appearance with her amazing blaze. We're still deciding what colour she'll turn out though, perhaps black. She's starting to show some excellent movement too.

The fourth foal by Hewey is Harry out of Better Pine. Better Pine produced the lovely Jive Magic filly Aurum Jive Princess in 2006 and has a couple of good young horses currently competing in NSW dressage. Harry has a very sweet nature and beautiful conformation not to mention that excellent white star. He already caught the eye of one of our top dressage trainers who (without knowing his parentage) remarked upon his excellent uphill frame and strong shoulder. These shots were taken just after he was born, he's filled out a lot since then!
