Aurum's Broodmares
Here is some background information on some of Aurum's broodmares. We're strongly of the opinion that the quality of the mare has a very significant effect on the quality of the foal, so we're very selective about the mares which we choose to be a part of the Aurum herd! Many of the mares we use have competed succesfully themselves and if not, they have specific quality and strength of performance bloodlines.
DaisyDaisy is by Sterling King (Advanced Eventer) out of a Black Pampas/Nearco/Phalaris/Bay Ronald line mare. She was purpose bred as an eventer by Steve and Pauline Weir. Daisy was a super bold jumper with no fear! |

Tidal WaveTidal Wave is by Flooding, a famous sire of showjumpers in Australia. She was qualified 3 star before an accident retired her to breeding duties. She was a dynamic take-no-prisoners cross country horse! |

Aurum PoppyPoppy is by A-Grade showjumper McCartney out of Daisy. From her parents she has inherited her good looks, presence, outstanding trainability, wonderful movement and special jumping ability. |

Natheira'Millie' is a wonderful mare by Family Ties, a very strong producer of jumping horses which have found fame worldwide. Millie passes on a beautiful temperament and excellent movement. Her progeny include outstanding eventing prospects such as Aurum Brilliant Connections (currently training with Lauren Balcomb) and Aurum Flood Tied. |

DreamieDreamie is a granddaughter of Family Ties, but apart from that rather important jumping line she has a pedigree 'to dream of' for eventing and showjumping. She produces beautiful foals with beautiful temperaments such as Aurum Boadicea and Aurum Heidi. |

Mary PoppinsMary Poppins is by Walt Disney, a leading Hanoverian sire. She has produced a number of beautiful foals with good to exceptional movement who have been purchased by top competitors such as Heath and Rozzie Ryan. |

Risqué'GiGi' as we call her is an extremely well bred mare by the Grand Prix horse Regardez Moi (Rubinstein/Donnerhall/Consul) out of Slinky (Salute/Ludendorf). Not surprisingly she throws well conformed babies with excellent movement. Aurum Je Suis, her first foal, went to a Grand Prix dressage home in New Zealand. Since then she has produced Aurum Weltelina and Aurum 'Walter' both of whom are amazing prospects. |

Aurum BelleBreeders often talk about strong mare lines and Belle is a good example of that. She is a daughter of Begum Belle and inherits her mother's strong movement and good looks. Even better she passes them on. Belle has an amazing number of occurences of the Son In Law/Dark Ronald/Bay Ronald line in her pedigree which are featured in so many of the great Eurpopean dressage lines. Belle is the dam of our young stallion Aurum Rivière d'Or as well as Aurum Revoir now training in SA. |

BP MontanaMontana is by the famous Australian-based Hanoverian sire Daley K who is responsible for innumerable outstanding jumping and dressage horses. Her dam side includes the internationally important sires Precipitation, Wilkes and Hurry On. Montana has a super quiet temperament, great movement and a great jump. Her youngsters share her no-fuss personality and excellent elevated movement, but should be able to jump as well. |

DP Whanita'Netti' is a rather well-bred young warmblood mare. She is by Wonderful who is by the famous Weltmeyer out of Frauenberg a very well known Trakhener broodmare in Australia with many good performing progeny. Netti's dam is Belcam Alanis who is descended from Aachen a well known producer of dressage and jumping horses. Netti has outstanding movement as do her babies! Her foals include Aurum Aurigan and Aurum Lithium (aka Newton). |

Better Pine (dec)'Piney' was a Hanoverian registered ASB mare. Her pedigree includes the influential sire Precipitation as well as Court Martial, Bay Ronald, Dark Ronald, Son In Law and very interestingly, Tamerlane. Tamerlane and his sire Persian Gulf, both greatly influenced German warmblood breeding as did Bay Ronald through his son Dark Ronald. Better Pine produced the outstanding Jive Magic filly Aurum Jive Princess for us a year ago and we gave her a year off since she's getting on. Piney has a couple of previous foals performing well in early dressage classes now. Her last foal is the outstanding Aurum 'Harry' by Aurum Remarquable (dec). |

Rose Of HeliosRose was destined to be at Aurum, given her name! However it was her breeding that first attracted us followed by her quiet nature and beautiful conformation. She is a Kenmare/Vain/ Favoured Bay mare and these are really strong bloodlines for jumping and movement in Australia. Our two foals by her so far have shared her nature and her beauty. We don't doubt they will be great performers as well. Progeny include Aurum Atlantis and Aurum Brilliant Sun. |

Byalee Minuet'Minnie' is a young Richmeed Medallion mare who has a strong damline based on Salute/Gelriano. Minnie has absolutely outstanding movement and an excellent nature. Our first foal by her, Aurum Jolson was a real cracker! Great movement, great temperament and simply beautiful! |

Rosewood Duelluta'Lucy' is a Head Stud Book Australian Warmblood mare by the imported Hanoverian stallion Duellschutz out of a Valuta mare. These two stallions appear in the pedigrees of many successful horses in each of the Olympic disciplines. Lucy is a good sized, pretty mare with excellent movement and a great temperament. Her foals have been blessed with real flash and presence and include Aurum Solarius and Aurum 'Honey'. |

Money Miss Spent'Penny' has the perfect pedigree to produce great jumping horses. Her heritage includes such notables as Son In Law, Polynesian, Bay Ronald, Hurry On etc etc. Her first foal for us, Aurum Brilliant Flood by Aurum Invader is a super filly, confident and well put together. Her second foal, also a filly, Aurum Rememberance by Aurum Remarquable is an outstanding modern event type. |
