This youngster is our first 2008 season baby and is by the Brilliant Invader son Aurum Brilliant Cut out of Expenses. His full brother Aurum Simply Brilliant was sold to an up and coming young eventer in South Australia fairly early in the season last year. Aurum Simply Brilliant was so spectacular a prospect that we had no qualms about repeating the cross this year. The result is in some respects the same and in others quite different! Major is built almost identically to his brother, moves the same, has a very similar bold personality but looks quite different due to his very flash chestnut with blaze and hind stockings colouring. His dam Expenses has a very interesting pedigree indeed! She is by Sanction who is the sire of Heath Ryan's top 4* eventer Flame. It's no accident that Sanction produced a top jumping horse in Flame given that he has that giant of thoroughbred jumping horse sires Precipitation in his pedigree, not to mention Star Kingdom/Hyperion/Gainsborough as well as Nasrullah and Fair Trial/Phalaris. If that isn't enough, on her dam side she has a double cross of Precipitation as well as a double Cross of Son In Law and once again Gainsborough, Nasrullah and Fair Trial/Phalaris. What a sensational jumping pedigree! With this colt Expenses has produced another cracker with an unflappable, bold personality, very striking looks and bucketloads of talent and energy. He shows his father's trademark powerful hindquarters and presence. In the right hands he will go straight to the top of the eventing charts! Major's brother Mega was snapped up very quickly by a talented up and coming young rider. A number of other callers last season were understandably disappointed to miss out on him but here is a second opportunity to secure these bloodlines.
