2008 Season Youngsters
Welcome to our presentation of our 2008 season's youngsters!All the horses shown here are for sale unless otherwise mentioned! In a few cases we retain horses to develop our breeding programme and this is indicated but we encourage you to inspect these youngsters anyway because they demonstrate the reliable quality of our breeding programme. Sometimes the mares concerned will be in foal to the same stallion for the following year as well.
Of those horses which are retained by Aurum to develop our bloodlines, the most common reason is with a filly whose mother is getting on in years. We hasten to add that we don't keep the best ones for ourselves! You can be confident of the quality of our youngsters, our reputation is our most important asset!
We believe that the early months of a foal's life are critical to prepare it for the best outcome and longevity as a riding horse. Our foals are well handled from birth, are taught to lead from day one and have their feet done regularly. All our foals are people-oriented; people are part of their daily life from the start and co-operating with people is normal for them. People visiting us for the first time almost always comment on how friendly the youngsters are!
They are all wormed regularly, well fed and vaccinated so we know that their competition careers won’t be interrupted or shortened as a result of inadequate early care. This is especially important in order to avoid long term health problems such as anaemia, colic or irreparable damage to the intestinal tract. Foals which are not wormed appropriately can experience poor development and growth, impaired performance capability and lowered resistance to disease even carrying through to later life. It pays to know where you are buying your youngstock from!

Note: We're now offering two different formats of video. The first is the universal mpg format which we used in the past which plays on all machines. The second is the newer mp4 format which is compatible with most recent machines and software. The advantage of the mp4 format is higher quality and double the image size for approximately the same sized file. You should use a recent version of Windows Media, Apple Quicktime or some other utilities (such as VLC) in order to play the mp4 version.
