Pepper is the epitome of the purpose bred modern event horse. Her dam Aurum Poppy has a serious performance lineage indeed! She is by A grade showjumper McCartney (himself out of an A grade showjumping mare). Poppy's own dam, Daisy, was a highly talented purpose bred eventer (bred by Steve and Pauline Weir) who succesfully competed at one star level in the days when one star was somewhat more challenging than it seems to be now (I know the youngsters won't believe this but it's true!). Daisy's sire was Sterling King who succesfully competed at three star level. |

Daisy was out of a Black Pampas mare, a line which has been renowned for jumping horses in Australia (just ask Roz Neve). As is often the case, a look back through these pedigrees shows the same sires or dams appearing time and time again, Black Pampas being no surprise here with Bay Ronald, Marco and Phalaris popping up. Aurum Poppy was lightly competed prior to stud duties (no fault of her own, just our lack of time). She shows a sensational jump and excellent above-average movement, frequently on top of the scoreboard after the dressage! Pepper's sire Rivière d'Or is a son of the outstanding Grand Prix dressage horse Regardez Moi and via him enjoys a lineage including some of the greatest dressage names such as Rubinstein, Donnerhall and Consul. Rivière d'Or is currently training in dressage and learning at an astonishingly rapid pace. He is also a talented jumper which is not surprising since he has a pedigree which includes some outstanding jumping lines as well via his dam. As well, his sire Regardez Moi has sired several good eventers. This makes us supremely confident of Pepper's future as a top eventer. |
